Syed Arshad Hussain is an Indian Physicist (b. 1975). He is working as an Assistant Professor at Tripura University (A Central University) since 2004. Formerly he was a member of Centre for Surface Science and Catalysis at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. His area of research interests are ultra-thin films e.g. Langmuir–Blodgett film, Self-assembly at air-water interface and ultra-thin films.
He has assembled single stranded DNA onto solid substrate.[1] For his work on "Organo-Clay Hybrid films" [2][3][4][5] he has awarded "Young Scientist Research Award by Department of Atomic Energy (India), Government of India.
Dr. Hussain has been awarded "Sir J C Bose Award – 2008-09" for his contribution in the field of Material Science and Spectroscopy by Tripura State Council of Science and Technology, Govt. of Tripura, India.
Dr. Syed Arshad Hussain has been selected for the "Bharat Jyoti Award", one of the Indias prestigious award given by "India International Friendship Society" in 2011.
His name has been included in "Marquis Who's Who in the World".[6]
Dr. Hussain is the editorial board member of the 'Absorption' section of the "Journal of Spectroscopy and Dynamics" (ISSN 2249 – 2704), Simplex Academic Publishers.
